Almost every panel on a modern vehicle is held on by a clip rather than a bolt. Bumper covers, fender liners, splash shields, door panels, kick panels and exterior moldings all use one-piece plastic or metal fasteners that are designed to be pushed in once. Many break when they come out, so body shops, dealership techs and restorers keep a stock of replacements on hand.
