10mm Trim Masking Tape - 3M Automotive

The 3M Automotive 6349 Trim Masking Tape, 10mm, is engineered for professional automotive refinishers, offering precision when painting around exterior trim. This specialized masking tape features an integrated hard band that subtly lifts moldings and seals, allowing paint to flow underneath. This design achieves a concealed, OEM-quality paint edge on various modern vehicles, enhancing masking efficiency and delivering professional results.

Key Features

• Integrated Hard Band: A rigid yet flexible 10mm band slides behind trim, moldings, and glass seals, creating a consistent, concealed paint line that replicates original equipment manufacturer (OEM) finishes.
• Perforated Design: Pre-perforated sections enable clean, precise tearing by hand, minimizing the need for cutting tools and streamlining workflow in collision repair and paint shops.
• Clean-Removal Adhesive: This adhesive provides secure attachment to metal, glass, rubber, plastic, and painted surfaces, removing cleanly without residue even after bake cycles up to 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes.
• Conformable Polymeric Film Backing: The flexible blue film readily conforms to tight curves and intricate contours, ensuring consistent adhesion and preventing lifting on challenging vehicle surfaces.
• Shop-Ready Durability: Constructed to withstand common solvents and moisture, this tape delivers reliable performance against basecoats, clear coats, and other chemicals in body shop environments.

Applications

This 3M trim masking tape is designed for a broad spectrum of professional automotive applications on passenger cars, light trucks, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. It is suitable for masking side moldings, belt moldings, and body side cladding to achieve clean paint transitions, and for creating sharp lines around flush-mount windshields, back glass, and fixed quarter glass. Technicians can also use this tape for working around inset door handles, roof drip moldings, and pillar trim during blend repairs and full resprays, as well as for masking tail lamps and other exterior trim components for two-tone and custom paint jobs.
