Metric Sets

Metric sets are a type of tool used by automotive mechanics to measure the performance of a vehicle's engine. They are typically made of metal and have a variety of different gauges and dials that allow the mechanic to see how the engine is operating.

There are many different types of metric sets available, each with its own set of features. Some of the most common types include:

  • Compression testers: These tools measure the pressure inside a cylinder when the piston is at top dead center. This information can be used to diagnose problems with the engine's valves, pistons, or rings.
  • Oil pressure gauges: These tools measure the pressure of the oil in the engine. This information can be used to diagnose problems with the oil pump, oil filter, or other components of the lubrication system.
  • Thermometers: These tools measure the temperature of the engine coolant. This information can be used to diagnose problems with the cooling system, such as a blown head gasket or a faulty thermostat.
  • Vacuum gauges: These tools measure the amount of vacuum in the intake manifold. This information can be used to diagnose problems with the intake manifold gasket, the EGR valve, or other components of the intake system.

Metric sets are an essential tool for any automotive mechanic. They allow the mechanic to quickly and easily diagnose problems with a vehicle's engine.
