Flexible Parts Repair Kit - 3M Automotive

Part #: 5895

The 3M Automotive 5895 Flexible Parts Repair Kit, also known as 3M 05895, is a professional-grade, two-part epoxy system engineered for the efficient and durable repair of flexible and semi-rigid plastic components. This specialized formula helps collision and mechanical shops streamline repairs by offering fast work times and quick-to-sand properties, enhancing vehicle throughput and minimizing rework.

Key Features

  • Flexible and Durable Repair: Cures into a tough, flexible material that maintains the original flex of bumper covers and other plastic parts, ensuring long-lasting repairs.
  • Rapid Process Times: Provides a practical 5–8 minute work time, is typically sandable in approximately 15 minutes, and paintable in as little as 30 minutes, supporting accelerated shop workflows.
  • Clean Featheredge and Easy Sanding: Its consistent paste texture spreads smoothly, feathers easily, and helps reduce pinholes, contributing to a quicker finishing process.
  • Strong Adhesion to Flexible Plastics: Bonds effectively to most flexible and semi-rigid automotive plastics, including TPO when properly prepped with 3M™ Automix™ Polyolefin Adhesion Promoter (PN 05907).
  • Temperature-Resistant Cure: Once fully cured (approximately 4 hours), the repaired area withstands typical automotive service temperatures from -20° to 180°F (-29° to 82°C).

Applications

This kit is suitable for both cosmetic and structural repairs on flexible bumper covers, plastic body panels, wheel flares, and splash shields. It effectively fills and repairs scratches, gouges, tears, cracks, and small holes in flexible or semi-rigid plastics commonly found on passenger vehicles, SUVs, and light trucks. Additionally, it can be used for seam sealing over 2K primer to match OEM-style smooth seam sealer tape in collision repair. Not recommended for SMC or fiberglass substrates.
