1/4" Drive Locking Socket Extension - 7.25" Length - SK Hand Tool

The SK Hand Tool 40992 1/4" Drive Locking Socket Extension is engineered for professional technicians and mechanics who require dependable socket retention and extended reach in challenging work environments. This 7.25-inch extension provides essential access to deeply recessed fasteners, making it a valuable tool for modern vehicle maintenance and intricate industrial repairs. It is designed to minimize dropped sockets and improve efficiency in demanding, confined, or overhead applications.

Key Features

• Positive Locking Socket Retention: An integrated locking collar with a SureGrip® lock mechanically secures the socket, preventing accidental detachment during use or when extracting from deep wells. This feature reduces downtime and potential damage from dropped sockets.
• Extended 7.25" Reach: The optimized length is ideal for accessing fasteners located within cylinder heads, intake manifolds, HVAC housings, under-dash areas, and transmission cases, which are often buried behind components.
• Professional-Grade SuperKrome® Construction: Manufactured in the U.S.A. from high-strength steel, this extension features a high-polish SuperKrome® finish, providing superior durability and corrosion resistance against harsh shop chemicals and environmental elements.
• Enhanced Diamond Knurled Grip: A diamond knurled grip ensures secure handling and optimal tool control, even when working with oily or greasy hands, enhancing user safety and precision.
• Slim Profile Design: The narrow shank of the extension allows for navigation around wiring looms, fuel lines, hoses, and other obstructions with minimal interference, facilitating access in densely packed areas.

Applications

This locking socket extension is suitable for a wide range of automotive repair tasks on passenger cars, light trucks, and fleet vehicles where fasteners are recessed behind covers, brackets, or accessories. It is particularly effective for interior and under-dash work, small engine service, and HVAC system repairs. The positive locking design helps prevent costly socket loss and downtime in hard-to-reach places, making it an invaluable tool for technicians working over engine bays, on lifts, or inside confined machinery compartments in light-duty industrial environments.
