Scotch-Brite General Purpose Pads - Maroon - 20/Box - 3M Automotive

The 3M Scotch-Brite™ 7447 General Purpose Pad is a professional-grade, non-woven abrasive designed for consistent scuffing, cleaning, and finishing across a variety of demanding automotive and industrial applications. These maroon pads provide a controllable cut, ensuring uniform material removal without compromising metal or plastic substrates. They offer a superior alternative to steel wool, wire brushes, and sandpaper for repeatable prep work and finishing tasks.

Key Features

• Medium-Grade, Controllable Cut: Equipped with very fine grade aluminum oxide abrasive, these pads deliver uniform abrasion for tasks such as scuffing panels, cleaning gasket surfaces, and removing light corrosion without over-cutting the material.
• Non-Woven, Open-Web Design: The open-web construction resists loading from paint, rust, and filler dust, maintaining a consistent scratch pattern and extending pad longevity.
• Conformable and Flexible: These pads easily adapt to contours, edges, and irregular surfaces, preventing gouging and preserving part geometry on components like brake calipers or brackets. They can be folded, stacked, or rolled for effective cleaning or conditioning.
• Durable and Reusable: Engineered to withstand repeated use with common shop solvents and degreasers, minimizing pad changeovers and maximizing efficiency. Unlike steel wool, they will not shred during use, rust after use, or create fine metal splinters.
• Consistent Satin Finish: Delivers an even finish that optimizes adhesion for primers, paints, adhesives, and sealants, blending effectively with existing scratch patterns for professional results.

Applications

These versatile 3M 7447 maroon Scotch-Brite pads are widely utilized by professional technicians for critical surface preparation. They are ideal for scuffing OEM clearcoats and primers before refinishing, blending repair areas, and prepping bumpers, door jambs, and edges on passenger cars, light trucks, and commercial vehicles. Common uses also include cleaning engine and transmission mating surfaces, addressing light corrosion on brake and suspension components, and deburring fabricated brackets and hardware. In industrial and MRO settings, they serve for general cleaning, oxidation removal, and surface conditioning on machinery, fixtures, and hand tools. They are also effective for cleaning upholstery and chrome.
