The treatment can be added to the engine crankcase at any time, either during or between oil changes, by pouring the entire can into the oil fill point when the engine is at normal operating temperature and turned off. For normal passenger vehicles, one can treats 4 to 5 quarts of oil, while larger engine systems require one can for every 5 quarts (4.7 liters) of capacity. For badly worn engines, a double dosage can be used.
