• J 38099 consists of four dowel rods (one per camshaft) made of plastic which are used to hold the timing chains/cam gears in place when removing the camshafts.
• These tools rest on the cam journals of the cylinder head which is why plastic is required.
• J 38099 is also used to align the cam during reassembly.
