About Arc Flash Protection

Working with energized electrical equipment presents significant hazards, with arc flash being one of the most dangerous. Our Arc Flash Protection category provides essential personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to mitigate the risks associated with these high-energy electrical events.

We feature top-tier protection from Oberon, a brand renowned for its innovative arc flash face shields and hoods. These products are engineered to provide superior thermal protection and clear visibility, crucial for tasks involving live electrical panels, switchgear, and motor control centers. Our selection includes everything from individual arc flash suits to complete kits, ensuring workers are fully protected from head to toe. When customers search for 'arc flash suit' or 'arc flash PPE', they're looking for reliable gear that meets stringent safety standards, and our Oberon offerings deliver exactly that.

This equipment is vital for electricians, utility linemen, industrial maintenance technicians, and anyone working in environments where arc flash hazards are present. Beyond full suits, we also carry specialized items like arc flash gloves and arc flash helmets, which are critical components for comprehensive protection. Investing in high-quality arc flash protection is not just about compliance; it's about preventing life-altering injuries and ensuring every worker returns home safely.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a 40 cal/cm² hazard level, the Oberon 40 Cal Arc Flash Suit (Model: 40CAL-KIT-XL) is the appropriate choice. This suit provides the necessary protection for such high-energy arc flash events, ensuring worker safety. It is designed to meet the demands of severe electrical hazards.

The primary difference lies in their arc thermal performance value (ATPV) rating, which indicates the level of protection against incident energy. The Oberon 12 Cal Arc Flash Suit offers protection up to 12 cal/cm², while the Oberon 20 Cal Arc Flash Suit provides a higher level of protection up to 20 cal/cm². The choice depends on the calculated incident energy of the specific work environment.

While the catalog data specifically lists the Oberon 8 Cal Arc Flash Suit as Model 8CAL-KIT-LG, indicating a large size, arc flash suits are typically available in a range of sizes to accommodate different users. You would need to check for other size options for this model to ensure proper fitment for your team members.

Arc Flash Protection

Arc flash clothing protects workers from the heat of an electrical arc when they work on or near energized equipment. Each garment carries an arc rating in calories per square centimeter, and the rating you need comes from the hazard analysis for the job. Higher ratings mean heavier protection.

This category includes Oberon arc flash coats with escape straps, complete suit kits with hoods, bib overalls, ultralight coveralls and EZ Lift PPE bag kits, in ratings from 12 cal to 75 cal and sizes from S to 5XL.

Arc-rated clothing should be worn with the arc-rated face shield or hood, voltage-rated gloves and leather protectors the task requires. Inspect garments before each use and replace any that are damaged or contaminated.
