Ultrapro High Temp Silicone Gasket - 3M Automotive

Part #: 8672

Specifications

The 3M Automotive Ultrapro High Temp Silicone Gasket, model number 8672 8672, is a premium form-in-place (FIP) Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) silicone gasket adhesive/sealant. It comes in a 3 fl. oz. (88ml) tube and is black in color, with a paste consistency. This silicone gasket maintains excellent thermal stability, designed to endure continuous temperatures from -45°F to 600°F (-43°C to 315°C), with intermittent spikes up to 600°F (301°C). It exhibits a tensile strength of 325 psi +/- 25 and a Shore A hardness of 35-40. The product is oxygen sensor safe, non-corrosive, and features a neutral cure with low odor. It resists coolants, oils, water, and ethylene glycol. A skin-over time of approximately 15 minutes and a full cure of 24 hours are achieved for a 1/4-inch bead at 70°F and 50% relative humidity.

Key Features

  • Form-in-Place Gasketing: Formulates custom gaskets directly on the application surface, eliminating the need for pre-cut gaskets.
  • High Temperature Resistance: Withstands extreme heat conditions in engine and transmission components without compromising seal integrity.
  • Rapid Curing: Achieves a quick skin-over time and a full cure within 24 hours, facilitating faster assembly and return to service.
  • Chemical and Fluid Resistance: Resists degradation from common automotive fluids such as oils, coolants, water, and ethylene glycol, ensuring a long-lasting seal.
  • Flexibility and Durability: Maintains elasticity and sealing strength over time, even under challenging conditions and temperature fluctuations.
  • Oxygen Sensor Safe & Non-Corrosive: Formulated to be safe for use with modern engine components and electronics, preventing damage and maintaining performance.
  • Low Odor: Features a neutral cure chemistry, resulting in minimal odor during application and curing.
  • Versatile Application: Functions effectively as a standalone gasket alternative or as a dressing to enhance the seal of pre-cut gaskets.

Applications
