6-1/2" Cable Shears - 1,000 Volt - Knipex

The Knipex KN9518165SBA 6-1/2" 1,000 Volt Cable Shears are engineered for professional electricians and technicians, providing a safe and precise solution for cutting copper and aluminum conductors. These VDE-tested insulated shears deliver clean, deformation-free cuts, making them an essential tool for working on or near live electrical systems up to 1,000V AC or 1,500V DC. They combine certified protection with efficient cutting performance for demanding electrical tasks.

Key Features

• 1,000V Insulated Protection: VDE-tested to ASTM F1505, the ergonomic multi-component grips offer certified protection for live circuit applications up to 1,000V AC or 1,500V DC, enhancing user safety in hazardous environments.
• Precision Cutting Performance: Precision-ground, induction-hardened blades provide crush-free cuts on copper and aluminum conductors up to 19/32" (1/0 AWG), preventing insulation damage and frayed conductor ends.
• Compact and Accessible Design: A 6-1/2" (165 mm) length and slim head profile allow for efficient access and operation in confined areas such as under dash panels, inside junction boxes, and control cabinets.
• Optimized Ergonomics: Engineered with optimized leverage and blade geometry to minimize hand fatigue during repetitive cutting, promoting improved productivity and user comfort.
• Durable Construction: Forged from oil-hardened special tool steel and equipped with an adjustable bolted joint, these cable shears are built for long-term accuracy and professional service life.
• Integrated Pinch Guard: A design feature that safeguards fingers from accidental pinching between the handles during high-force cutting applications, adding an extra layer of user protection.

Applications

These insulated cable shears are suitable for a range of professional electrical applications. In automotive settings, they are ideal for battery cable installations, auxiliary lighting, trailer wiring, aftermarket audio systems, and EV/HEV low-voltage harnesses within their rated capacity. Additionally, they are well-suited for industrial maintenance, panel building, telecommunications, and control cabinet work where accurate, flush cable cuts and certified insulation are critical. These shears are not designed for cutting steel wire or hard-drawn copper conductors.
