PSA Disc 8 In - 80E Blue Magnum - Norton Company

The Norton Company 23576 PSA Disc 8 In - 80E Blue Magnum is engineered for aggressive material removal and surface preparation in professional automotive refinishing, industrial maintenance, and fabrication tasks. This 8-inch abrasive disc combines Norton's advanced Blue Magnum abrasive technology with a reliable pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing, ensuring efficient and consistent performance on 8-inch sanders and backup pads in demanding, high-production environments.

Key Features

• Secure PSA Backing: The robust pressure-sensitive adhesive provides quick disc changes and a stable, secure hold on standard 8-inch rotary and orbital sanders, minimizing slippage and maximizing operator control during operation. This direct attachment system ensures a flat, stiff, and rigid sanding surface for aggressive material removal.
• 80E Coarse Grit: Optimized for aggressive stock removal, shaping, and heavy surface preparation across diverse substrates, the 80E coarse grit enables rapid material reduction on challenging projects like stripping old paint or rust and shaping body filler.
• Blue Magnum Abrasive Technology: Utilizes a self-sharpening Norzon grain design with blue aluminum oxide, which improves cut rate, minimizes loading, and extends product life. This delivers a consistent, fast cut on tough materials including metal, body filler, primer, and existing coatings.
• Durable Construction: Features a high-strength, latex-reinforced E-weight paper backing designed to resist tearing, curling, and edge chipping under high pressure and extended use, contributing to longer disc life and reduced downtime.
• Consistent Performance: The redesigned bond system and new coating technique ensure a predictable scratch pattern and resist loading, providing a more uniform finish and efficient material removal throughout its lifespan.

Applications

This versatile PSA disc is suitable for a wide range of professional applications:

• Automotive Refinishing: Ideal for stripping OEM and refinish coatings, leveling body filler, and preparing panels for primer on passenger cars, light trucks, and commercial vehicles. It's a standard grit for final filler shaping before primer, and the minimum grit most primers require for adhesion.
• Metal Fabrication: Effective for rust removal, weld cleanup, edge blending, and heavy surface conditioning on mild steel, stainless steel, and other common alloys in manufacturing and repair settings.
• Industrial Maintenance: Suitable for general sanding, cleanup, and surface preparation tasks on machinery, structural components, and various shop fixtures, ensuring surfaces are ready for subsequent treatments.
• Composites and Wood: Used for initial shaping and aggressive sanding on fiberglass, carbon fiber parts, and dense hardwoods where rapid material removal and a coarse finish are necessary.
