Automotive Cylinder Compression Tester - Mityvac

The Mityvac MV5520 Automotive Cylinder Compression Tester is a professional-grade diagnostic tool designed for accurate dry and wet cylinder compression testing across various gasoline engines. This robust tester provides technicians with essential data to precisely identify critical engine issues, such as compromised piston rings, faulty cylinder heads, sticking valves, and blown head gaskets. Its precision-engineered components and efficient design make it an indispensable asset for comprehensive engine health assessment in automotive and industrial settings.

Key Features

• Multi-Scale Pressure Gauge: Features a large, easy-to-read gauge displaying four distinct scales (PSI, Bar, kPa, and kg/cm²) to accommodate diverse measurement preferences and reporting standards.
• Peak Reading Retention: An integrated manual pressure release valve allows technicians to hold peak compression readings, facilitating accurate data logging during diagnostics.
• Professional Threaded Adapters: Includes a range of professional-grade threaded adapters, ensuring a leak-proof seal and compatibility with common 14 mm and 18 mm short thread, and 14 mm long thread spark plugs.
• Efficient Cylinder Changes: Equipped with a quick-disconnect coupler system to streamline the process of moving between cylinders, enhancing diagnostic workflow efficiency.

Applications

This professional-grade compression tester is essential for a variety of diagnostic and maintenance tasks:

• Automotive Cylinder Compression Testing: Provides critical data for evaluating the internal condition of gasoline engines, identifying potential weaknesses before they lead to major failures.
• Problem Identification: Accurately diagnoses common engine maladies including worn piston rings, cracked cylinder heads, leaking valves, and failed head gaskets, which are common causes of low compression or engine misfires.
• Engine Health Assessment: Ideal for routine maintenance checks and comprehensive troubleshooting of performance issues to ensure optimal engine function.

Note: This tool is specifically designed for use on gasoline engines and is not intended for diesel engine applications.
