Crankshaft

A crankshaft is a mechanical part that converts the reciprocating motion of a piston into rotational motion. It is a key component of an internal combustion engine and is responsible for converting the up-and-down motion of the pistons into the rotary motion that drives the wheels of a vehicle.

Crankshafts are typically made of forged steel and are designed to withstand the high loads and stresses that they are subjected to. They are typically lubricated with oil to reduce friction and wear.

There are a number of different types of crankshafts, each with its own unique design and features. The most common type of crankshaft is the single-piece crankshaft, which is made from a single piece of forged steel. Other types of crankshafts include the split-pin crankshaft, the three-piece crankshaft, and the four-piece crankshaft.

Crankshafts are an essential part of any internal combustion engine and are critical to the proper operation of the engine. By converting the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion, crankshafts allow engines to produce power and drive vehicles.
