Borescopes

Borescopes are flexible, illuminated tubes with a lens at one end and an eyepiece at the other. They are used to view internal parts of an engine or other machine.

Types of borescopes

  • Fiber optic borescopes use flexible bundles of optical fibers to transmit light. They are lightweight and small, making them ideal for tight spaces.
  • Rod-lens borescopes use a series of glass lenses to transmit light. They are more rigid than fiber optic borescopes, but they provide a clearer image.
  • Digital borescopes use a camera to capture images and video. They can be connected to a computer or other display device for viewing.

Benefits of using a borescope

  • Borescopes can help you diagnose problems that would be difficult or impossible to see with the naked eye.
  • They can be used to inspect areas that are difficult to reach, such as the inside of an engine block.
  • Borescopes can help you save time and money by identifying problems early on.

How to use a borescope

  1. Turn on the borescope and attach it to the inspection port.
  2. Insert the borescope into the opening until you reach the area you want to inspect.
  3. Use the controls on the borescope to adjust the focus and brightness.
  4. Look through the eyepiece or view the images on the display device.

Borescopes are an essential tool for any automotive mechanic. They can help you diagnose problems quickly and accurately, saving you time and money.
