The TS-7M is constructed from heavy gauge steel and allows for extremely accurate and reliable wheel truing at an economical price. For wheels up to 180mm wide and 740mm in diameter.
- Assemble TS-7M as per instructions. Attach base to bench/table for stability.
- Remove wheel from bike.
- Using existing axle in wheel, place axle/wheel in "V's" at top of uprights.
- Loosen knob on right upright and slide uprights together until touching hub, re-tighten knob. Spacers may be needed but not included.
- Open the cam lever to adjust the gauge holder to the correct height.
- Loosen the knob on the sliding gauge and position the notch at the bottom and the side of the rim.
- Slowly spin wheel and check for trueness and mark inconsistencies with a piece of chalk or a wax pencil.
- Reverse wheel in stand to check centering.
Truing Tips
When adjusting spoke nipples, tighten/loosen nipples, no more than one third revolution at a time. Remember that the nipples are threaded onto the spoke, not the rim, so tighten counter-clockwise to the rim, clockwise to the hub to tighten/clockwise to the rim and counterclockwise to the hub to loosen. Choose the correct size wrench to fit the nipples on your wheel, there are several size nipples and you do not want to round one off by using too large a wrench. The leading edge of the rim is the radial (roundness) run out/the side of the rim is the lateral (straightness) runout To change a rims radial run out (roundness) tighten several (4-6) spokes in a row on your mark and loosen several (4-6) spokes on both sides of the spokes you tightened. This will pull the rim back to round To change a rims lateral run-out (straightness) tighten every other spoke (4-6 in a row) centering on your mark, that pull from the opposite side of the hub. Loosen every other spoke between these spokes, to allow the rim to move sideways, back towards center. Slowly spin rim to re-check for trueness and repeat as necessary.
