Tips for Using Chisels

• Use a sharp chisel. A dull chisel will be more difficult to control and will produce a rougher cut.
• Apply pressure evenly. Apply too much pressure and you will damage the chisel. Apply too little pressure and you will not get a clean cut.
• Use a hammer or mallet to strike the chisel. Do not use your hand.
• Keep the chisel blade perpendicular to the workpiece.
• Chisels should be sharpened regularly.
