Power Line Carrier (PLC) Test Application* for Trailer ABS
Effective March 2001, a Federal Government mandate required that heavy-duty trucks have an in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp. Using a new SAE standard called PLC communication, the change requires trailer ABS ECU’s to communicate with the tractor ECU via the J560 power line to activate the warning lamp.Test tractor and trailer coupled or trailer independently for MID messages. *PLC testing requires NEXIQ PLC Converter Kit (PN 601020) sold separatelyToggle in-cab trailer ABS warning lamp ON/OFF to confirm operation.
Verify trailer ABS ECU for MID 10 and MID 11 messages.
